We celebrate the fourth anniversary at Mapit this month. Since its creation in 2016, the company has grown until overcoming 35000 active users. Ever since the beginning, the team has contributed to constant improvement by enhancing the devices, updating the software and offering a better customer service.

“Why isn’t there a device that allows tracking the location of motorbikes at any moment?”

was the question Javier Marcos, founder of Mapit IoT posed, after he had motorbike stolen in 2015.
Cars did have devices integrated in their systems. However, a similar device didn’t exist for motorbikes. Then, Javier, with the help of Andrés Aranda, started building the concept of a specific motorcycle locator. The company was founded in early 2016 and the product passed the test when Javier got his bike stolen again. Thanks to the device, he was able to get his vehicle back.

Afterwards, in 2017, Mapit signed an agreement with Honda in order to design and distribute the Honda Mapit device. This allowed the company to supply thousands of motorbike riders who purchased a vehicle from the japanese firm. From that moment, Mapit started offering its solution for Honda’s vehicles as well as direct customers who wanted to install the device in their motorbike regardless of the model and brand.

In 2019, thanks to the NEOTEC public fund, adressed to tech based companies, Mapit was able to grow and invest in improving service, software and their devices.

During the company’s creation, the team has standed up for optimizing the product’s features, like the locator’s precision, the geofence technology and the mileage syncronization.

The company is constantly transforming. With over 35000 Mapit users, the firm expects a steady growth of the subscribers base not only in Spain but also in the portuguese market. Also, a new device will be introduced by the end of the year, which will allow the to enjoy new features and better integration with the motorbike.

Four years have passed since the creation of Mapit and we are proud of being where we are, but we still have a long way to go.

Our mission: “At Mapit, we want to improve the life of motorbike riders by offering them services and the companies which supply them”

Thank you very much for trusting Mapit!
